Eleven new fire hydrants! April 29, 2009
The wait is over! We now have eleven new fire hydrants ready for installation.
The wait was due to the instruction classes our Belton Water Department had to
finish before they can replace the old ones. The issue was that the old
installations had esbestus. Our BWD guys needed training in handling this
material. Now they are ready to install. They hope to be finish with this
project in JULY. The job is difficult to determine the exact time they will be
finished. We watched the first one being installed and witnessed the issues they
have to go through in order to complete the new attachment. We need to thank
these guys for their efforts.
Update July 19, 2009:
Cimarron Trails Association,
Good Afternoon. My name is Don Tyler and I’m with the City of Belton Water Division . I wanted to let you know that we have completed installing 11 new fire hydrants in the Cimarron Trails Sub Division. Over the next four weeks, we will be repairing the yards that were dug up and will water these locations until the grass starts to grow. We also, will turn all hydrants to face the roadway and raise them up so they are level with the curb if needed.
Some areas need sidewalks repaired, once the yard has time to settle, the Belton Street Division will pour new sidewalks. We will return and apply grass seed once the sidewalks are complete. We are going to paint all fire hydrants in the sub-division and test them for defects over the next several weeks. In the future, if we find a hydrant that must be taken out of service, we will replace this hydrant as soon as possible. We are pleased that this task is complete and we are thankful for adding more fire protection to our communities. If you have any questions, please call any time. Thanks for your patience, Don Tyler………"
